How can a young associate grow at Sonepar?
Much of our knowledge is specific to our function and our organizational model. As a result:
- In-house training is a key element of the staff development policy. Many countries have set up training centers where the emphasis is on knowledge transfer.
- Skills can also be enhanced through participation in international and cross-company working groups.
- Promotion from within is a fundamental organizational principle at Sonepar. It is a way of acknowledging the skills acquired and the results achieved. In this respect, new associates can advance quickly if they prove themselves.
How can associates acquire international experience?
Participation in an International Committee is often the first introduction to the group. It is a valuable opportunity to work together and share ideas with colleagues in other countries. For example, the Sonepar Junior Committee (SJC) is made up of young managers under the age of 40 who embody the diversity of the group’s cultures and businesses. Each year they work on a set of issues submitted by General Management, to which they present their findings. Since its creation in 1991, many managers have served on the SJC. This committee is one of many communities in the extensive Sonepar network.
Our need for coordination and globalization has prompted us to create positions with an international scope. Supplier relations and management of Key Accounts are examples of this. Location is not always an issue. Very often, these international functions can be performed from the country of origin.
